Sophie & Rob's Intimate Wedding with Afternoon Tea at Hylands House, Chelmsford

At the end of May I spent a wonderful day photographing Sophie and Rob's beautiful wedding at the Hylands Estate, Essex. This was a very intimate wedding for immediate family, as Sophie and Rob flew straight off to Spain for a celebration with family and friends. Sophie is a childhood friend of my sister so it was particularly lovely to capture this special day!

Sophie did her makeup and the best man, Jason styled her hair at her lovely home in Chelmsford, where she was joined by her Mum and bridesmaids for champagne and a few final preparations.

Sophie's gorgeous dress was from Grace and Lace, and her AMAZING shoes from Charlotte Mills (I'm a big fan of those glitter bows!)

We then set off to Hylands where Sophie and her bridesmaids got dressed in the bridal suite. I've known Hylands most of my life, having grown up nearby and gone for many walks there - I even remember trying to peer through the windows before it was restored - so it was wonderful to photograph. The rooms are so stunning we barely noticed that the weather was, um, pretty blustery to say the least!

I then popped downstairs to meet Rob and Jason to get a few photos before their families arrived. One of my favourite features of the day was that Sophie and her bridesmaids came down to meet Rob and their family for drinks together before the ceremony, which I thought was really lovely. The ceremony was in the gorgeous Drawing Room and was filled with lots of love and smiles! We then headed to the Banqueting Room for a few photographs before they went to the Terrace Room for afternoon tea and bubbles. It was a really lovely, relaxed afternoon with plenty of cake - perfect! Sophie then had a quick change before most of the party jumped in to a limo to fly off to the next part of the celebrations, in Marbella!

It was such a wonderful, relaxed day filled with love and laughter and I'm so happy to have been asked to capture it for them. Congratulations Sophie and Rob!
